I am not as fast as a reader as these blog posts are going to seem. I am going to be posting a few different books in quick succession that I read over the Christmas Break that I haven't gotten a chance to write about yet.

Because of this research all citizens are given a mandatory operation to make them "pretty". This operation goes all the way down to the bone. Once people are "pretty" they are allowed to move to New Pretty Town, where all of the newly made Pretties go. As people get older they have operations to help them age but keep them "pretty".
Our main character, Tally, is overjoyed as her operation date approaches. However, as she makes friends with Shay and learns of a different option, a different society, and unpublicized effects of the operation her views begin to change.
I could not put this book down! While it seems like a longer book, it was a quick read for me. I was on the edge of my seat wanting to know what was going to happen next. This book explores many different issues in today's society regarding self-image and the thoughts of society. I like how this book explores these topics and communicates a message that you do not have to make yourself fit a certain image, just to make society happy. I think that this would be a great book for teenage girls especially, because they are at the age when these thoughts begin to attack. I also think that all women should read this because the attack on women and their image never ends.
Happy Reading!!!
