B = Bestseller

Hello Bookish People!

My mom and I are both teachers, she is a librarian and I am almost there. Last semester she attended a training where the most amazing Donaylnn Miller recommended a book, The Red Queen. This was not the only book that she recommended, but when mom heard the description of this book she knew immediately that I would love it! So she got it for me for Christmas, and I immediately devoured it.

In this society your job and status in life is decided by your blood. Is your blood red? Then you will be a lowly servant, working your life away to earn electricity, food, and other necessities. Is your blood silver? Then you are lucky. You are among the privileged, treated as lords and ladies, kings and queens, rulers over all, especially the reds.

Once a month certain silvers, who have special abilities granted by their blood, meet in arenas all over the country, fighting against each other in a game of showing the reds what they can do and instilling fear. During these fights the reds are forced to watch, to see what can be done to them by silvers with minimal effort on the part of the silver.

But one day, during an event where the new queen is to be chosen, in a similar display of power, a red does something unexpected, on accident. She falls into the arena, and shows a display of power! Unheard of!

This book was a fun read. I am in great anticipation of the sequel, to be released next month. This was another book that I was totally unable to put down. I think that my husband was thinking that there was something wrong with me! I was unable to figure out if this was meant to be an apocalyptical book, where the silvers had evolved from regular people and the reds were left normal, or if this was totally fantasy in another realm. You will have to read it for yourself and let me know!

Happy Reading!!
